Yesterday was the big yearly day of love. I am a gentleman and a scholar so naturally I gave my girlfriend flowers, as is customary in my culture (white). She gave me an ice cube.

What does this mean? It is melting fast, and I fear there is some kind of underlying message behind this cube of ice.

Ice was responsible for the sinking of the titanic. Does this mean that our relationship is on thin ice? On the other hand, ice also keeps the polar bears from drowning. I think the ice cube gift should be interpreted in one of these ways, but I can’t figure out which.

My girlfriend is not helping me understand what to make of this. When she gave me the ice cube yesterday I asked her why she would do such a thing but she very clearly pretended not to hear me. The ice cube was not brought up again.

I sent her a text to say good morning seven hours ago and she responded with “is that you or the ice cube talking lol”. I don’t know what to make of this.

The cube is now in my freezer because I fear that if I let it melt something horrible will happen. I want to make a smoothie but I know if I open the freezer door that ice cube will be there gawking at me. Why couldn’t she just have gotten me chocolate like a normal human being?
